Chris Berman
COO and Co-Founder of Dedicated Media
I like tight lederhosen, good cigarettes at a cheap price, and Indy Car Racing. I like jelly, but not jam. I like honey, but not syrup. I like riding flying carpets, but not flying horses. And I just made all that up. I graduated in 1998 with a degree in finance and international business administration from Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado. After a highly productive year of bartending, snowboarding and general disorderliness, I began my career in advertising as Business Development Manager for WPA Communications, a traditional agency in Los Angeles. In 2001, I became the first employee hired by the founding team of Chris DeWolfe and Tom Anderson of Response Base, brought in specifically to manage a joint venture between Universal Music and Penguin Putnam Publishing. I later changed roles and headed up media buying efforts for the company as it transitioned to a Direct Response marketing firm. After several years in that capacity, an acquisition and subsequent transition to MySpace, I sat down at a Starbucks and decided to start a business with a guy I barely knew, no business plan and no money. And with that Dedicated Media was born in 2004. It’s no wonder it has worked out so well.
